Your Happiness Matters

There’s a popular song by Bobby McFerrin called “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” It’s a great sentiment. If we could all stop worrying and choose to be happy, that would be wonderful, but for most people, it’s not that simple.
We all have the instinctive wish to be happy and to see the people we care about most happy too. It underlies every action we do, every choice we make. Nothing wrong with that.
Yet at times it appears to be unattainable.
Obstacles are standing in your way. It’s natural
to become frustrated when you can’t seem to
find happiness in anything and think,
“Why can’t I just be happy?”
The reality is you can’t force yourself to be happy
if you’re not. But you can learn how to choose happiness and rise above your circumstances.
Allowing yourself to thrive and flourish starts with analyzing your thoughts on happiness, defining what happiness means to you and making happiness your first priority.
Action for Happiness is a great place to start. With research-proven strategies, daily practices and the online Course ‘Exploring What Matters’. you discover ways to spark positive change in your life and the lives of the people you care about most.

We are told that if:
We work hard, chase money, get more stuff, we will be successful, and then we’ll be happy.
If we can just find that great job, get a raise, lose those five pounds (or even better ten pounds), happiness will follow. Instead of finding happiness, we end up living stressed, overwhelmed, burned out, feeling empty and mentally exhausted as a result.
To keep the course accessible to the widest range of people, we offer the course donation based. We are taking this approach because we truly believe that everyone deserves the chance to be happier and contribute to create a happier world.
In addition to making us feel good, studies have found that happiness actually improves other aspects of our lives. Here is an overview of some of the good stuff that research has linked to happiness.
Every path to happiness is different. Based on the latest research, we have created ‘Ten Keys to Happier Living’. These ‘Ten Keys’ can make you happier, so you live a more meaningful life. Together, they spell out “GREAT DREAM.”

The research is unequivocal: employee happiness & wellbeing and a positive culture directly improve engagement, resilience, and performance. The good news is that Happiness at Work is a skill, and we can help your employees and leaders strengthen it.
At Action for Happiness, we want to help you to take action and begin a process of positive change. The starting point is to incorporate happiness & wellbeing onto the agenda.

“We are really delighted to see the launch of Action for Happiness in the Netherlands. Every country should be taking action to promote Happiness & Wellbeing and create a more caring society; nothing could be more important.
So, it’s fantastic that Asha and her team are bringing these ideas to the Netherlands. We know that great things happen when people get together to focus on the things that matter.
We look forward to seeing the Action for Happiness movement grow and prosper in the Netherlands and we are so grateful to the many wonderful supporters who have already come forward to help.”
