Unleash Your (Inner) Happiness

Unleash Your (Inner) Happiness

Everybody wants to be happy, what is happiness, really? What does it mean?

It seems like an odd question, but is it? Do you know how to define happiness?
Happiness does have a pretty important role in our lives, and it can have a huge impact on the way we live our lives.

Happiness is about discovering your true self. This means finding your authentic self.

With Action for Happiness, you discover how you can be happy and how you can help others to be happy too

Being happy can change your life, to live a healthier, richer, more fulfilling, more passionate, and more meaningful life. So that you can then help others in doing the same.

Be the change you want to see in the world

Be the change you want to see in the world

It’s a simple truth, but a powerful one. And it’s a sentiment that has guided me my entire life.

It’s what led me to become a Humanitarian + Missionary for Happiness and Peace as a young woman, eager to make a difference but unsure about who I was and how to do it.

It’s what sustained my activities as a Happiness at Work trainer, co-founder of Europe’s biggest Happiness@Work Conference and my time as Champion of One Billion Happy.

ONE Million Dreams

ONE Million Dreams

And it’s the idea behind my latest startup:
ONE Million Dreams‘, a new type of organization committed to inspire, empower and connect courages dreamers to turn their dreams, for a brighter future into reality.

Action for Happiness, the Netherlands is my personal ONE Million Dreams project.

At Action for Happiness we are focused on building the world we all hope to see. A world where people are more generous, kinder, and happier. A world where people discover what really matters in life and start to prioritize happiness in their homes, workplaces, communities and society.

A world where people see their happiness as being deeply intertwined with the happiness of others and see themselves as capable of transforming their communities for the better.

Greater Happiness for All

Greater Happiness for All

To create a brighter future we need to translate the science & ancient wisdom of happiness into programs that are accessible not only for some people but for all people.  We need to inspire people to explore, and pursue their unique paths to happiness and pay it forward for the common good.

In 2015 Action for Happiness started to do just that!

Today I am humbled to serve as the founder of Action for Happiness, the Netherlands. I am truly honored to work with a great team of global and local leaders who are all committed to take action for a happier and kinder world. Thank you all for being part of this journey!

Let’s change the world together because no one changes the world alone.

Why Practicing Happiness is Important

Why Practicing Happiness is Important

In addition to making us feel good, studies have found that happiness actually improves other aspects of our lives. Here is an overview of some of the good stuff that research has linked to happiness.

  1. Happy people are more successful in multiple life domains, including marriage, friendship, income, work performance, and health.
  2. Happy people get sick less often and experience fewer symptoms when they do get sick.
  3. Happy people have more friends and a better support system.
  4. Happy people donate more to charity (and giving money to charity makes you happy, too).
  5. Happy people are more helpful and more likely to volunteer—which also makes you happier!
  6. Happy people have an easier time navigating through life since optimism eases pain, sadness, and grief.
  7. Happy people have a positive influence on others and encourage them to seek happiness as well, which can act as reinforcement.
  8. Happy people engage in deeper and more meaningful conversations.
  9. Happy people smile more, which is beneficial to your health.
  10. Happy people exercise more often and eat more healthily.
  11. Happy people are happy with what they have rather than being jealous of others.
  12. Happy people are more productive and more creative, and this effect extends to all those experiencing positive emotions.

The relationship between mental health and happiness

As you can probably assume from the list above, there is a strong relationship between mental health and happiness! When happy people are healthier, have better relationships, make friends more easily, and find more success in life, it’s easy to see why happiness and mental health are related.

“We are really delighted to see the launch of Action for Happiness in the Netherlands. Every country should be taking action to promote Happiness & Wellbeing and create a more caring society; nothing could be more important.

So it’s fantastic that Asha and her team are bringing these ideas into the Netherlands. We know that great things happen when people get together to focus on the things that matter.

We look forward to seeing the Action for Happiness movement grow and prosper in the Netherlands and we are so grateful to the many wonderful supporters who have already come forward to help.”
